i still don't quite understand....
are you telling me that the new hard drive that i want to install (C:\) has the windows xp professional program already on it or can the new hard drive be connected to my computer while the old drive is still in?
how is it possiable for two hard drives to be connected at the same time?
i beleive that the e-mail you sent me - youi were telling me how to copy files?
i hope you did not forget about the last e-maili sent you.
thanks
you mean all of windows xp files?
i made a mistake earlier...i don't think there is a 250 gb hard drive out on the market yet...i was talking more like 150 gb c:\ hard drive

Hello gain Joe,
It it pretty clear you have not done this kind of an installation previously. I highly recommend that you back up your system onto external storage before you attempt this operation.
It would be a good idea to have a Tech person available.

Reply: To be clear we will call your present hard drive appropriately C:
Then we will call your 2nd hard drive, 250 GB = drive M: (for monster)
Your present hard drive C is the only one with XP on it.
The new hard drive M is blank.
You will be copying / transferring files FROM hard drive C
TO hard drive M
The new hard drive M can be connected to your computer while C is still connected, yes.

Reply: "All you need is a copy of ghost or some other imaging software to clone your C: to the M:
"If you don't want to mess with jumpers, simply disconnect the CD-ROM drive D:, and attach the "new" drive M: there.
Boot ghost using floppy disk and ghost "Drive to drive". Make sure you go Disk 2 to Disk 1 or you could inadvertently wipe the contents of your C: "

Very simple to copy entire contents of C: to M: (which you may have installed into your D drive for this operation).
and then remove "old" C: drive.

Joe, it is always best to be CAUTIOUS.
If these instructions do not seem clear to you, they should; unless you are a bit over-your-head for this operation? Strongly consider taking the time to visit a Tech person, and watch a similar operation being done, before you attempt this on you own. I would hate for you to lose everything.
Glad to help
