Dear Pat

Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa. I hope that you can help me. I am researching the subject of popular culture. I really want to get to know what people are thinking, what ideas are dominant in popular culture and what is currently driving popular culture. One way of finding these answers is by looking at info on search engines like the Lycos 'Top 50 searches for the week'. However, although I have dug a bit, I cannot find the route to this kind of information. Do you have any ideas on how I can find current information on popular culture and specifically, what people are looking for on the web with regards to information, etc. I am hoping to write an article on this in time, but right now am just trying to find out more about the subject.

I would appreciate any input that you can offer. Thanks.

With kind regards

Dennis Neville

And, greetings back from Clarksville, Maryland, Dennis.

Here's something probably similar to the Lycos Top 50:
http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html

I would then use Google on keywords like:
studies popular cultures
or
studies popular trends
and looking through the hits, I'd watch for other keyterms to adjust the search to what you are looking for. That last piece of advice is probably the most important for any kind of search you might do. Doing that search and you should continue it,
I find this to possibly be very useful:

Good luck with the surfing on this. Regards, Pat aka Patrick
