MDE Files and a Minor Shortcoming

Thanks for your previous help. I have created an MDE file, per your suggestion, and played with it a bit. I've noticed that, even though the code, forms and reports are inaccessible, the queries are modifiable. On MS's Access Developer site, it states that to overcome this limitation, further security steps are necessary (and cite the standard method of using a workgroup file). Do you worry about users messing with your queries and if so, how do you do it without resorting to MS's method? (I'm presuming with code, but I'm relatively unfamiliar with what can be done in terms of 'hiding' and/or preventing the editing of objects.) Any suggestions?

| Answer provided by admin on 25 Sep 2008 at 10:28 PM Actually, I don't worry about it. Most of my development is for internal use. My users are, for the most part, not very siphisticated. Even if they figure out how to open the database window and change a query, they know this is not allowed. In fact, most of my apps aren't even MDEs because my users know not to mess with my queries. |
