Inserting image into table.....problem

What I'm going to tell you is to redesign this form. Most developers do not store images in an Access database. These cause the database to bloat in size and cause problems.

The better way to handle this is to use an unbound Image control and set the picture property in the On Current event. I have an artwork catalog database where I do just that.

How you set the picture property depends on the structure of your database. You can either store the path to the file in a field in your database or construct the path based on other fields. For example, in my artwork catalog, each image is named with the ID number of the artwork. I then use this ID number as the primary key of my table. In the On Current event of my form I use code like the following:

Dim strFullPath As string

strPath = "H:\artwork\Images\"
strFilename = Me!ArtID & ".jpg"
strFullPath = strPath & strfilename

If Dir(strFullPath) = "" then
strFilename = "notavail.jpg"
End If

Me!imgPic.Picture = strPath & strFilename

This tests to make sure the file exists, if it doesn't it substitutes a default image. Otherwise it sets the picture property to the path to the file.
