The seeds of wildflowers may have very different germination requirements, so if you plan to mix them, you should research the requirements first and combine only varieties with like needs. Pieces of pantyhose fastened around seed pods with twist ties work very well for keeping birds, wind etc. from dispersing seeds before you have a chance to collect them. Put them in place when you see green seed pods, and wait for the pods to turn brown before collecting them. These are very general rules that will work for most plants.
