hi again..
I was wondering if you know of any hearty native plants or wilflowers. The area i am using is in front of a school and the soil is somewhat dry and there is plenty of sunlight. I am doing tests on the soil quality but for now i need to know what kinds of native plants can use this soil that can survive new york weather.
thank you

| Answer provided by admin on 25 Sep 2008 at 09:40 PM Prairie wildflowers would grow in this situation. Many of them are also native to New York. I'm pretty sure there is a web site if you do a search with those two words. The list would include Rudbeckias, Echinaceas, Heliopsis, Helianthus, Liatris, Solidago, Vernonia and Sedum (coneflowers, ox-eye, perennial sunflowers, gayfeather, goldenrod, ironweed and orpine), and if you can provide more moisture, add Inula, Silphium and Eupatorium (elecampane, cup plant and Joe-pye-weed). |
